Expanded Opportunity

While most people might be stressing or fretting during a time of unemployment, I see it as a gift. I feel that for whatever reason the universe was sending me a strong message of an abrupt change in my life path. What is left in the wake is endless opportunity.

I may be adventurous and fearless, but I'm also a planner. I love to create my life and set it on the path that I chose. I figure that life will continue to move along whether I intervene, so I might as well direct it towards living my best life.

Now as I apply for jobs I get to dream of where life may soon take me. I've started to get a couple of bites with several interviews this week. Looking at those jobs as a microcosm of what might be, the answer is quite simply that I could end up working just about anywhere on the globe. Right now it is narrowed down to one position working in Bangladesh, Cambodia, & Nepal, another in Afghanistan, and two others that, when combined, cover over half of Africa.

It feels good to get a little closer to what comes next, but I'm also taking time to enjoy the rare opportunity to have free time. I've been exploring neighborhoods in Washington, getting together with friends, and best of all meeting new friends as well. It feels good.

I've also been enjoying cooking a bit more, making a full Thanksgiving feast with my first success at pumpkin pie. Plus making treats from the local farmer's market including apple cobbler and beets. Yum!

I'm also headed home for the holidays for the first time in the last five years. I figured that I might as well take advantage of not having to take off vacation time. It will be good to be back and good for James to stay in DC to study for his upcoming exam.

That's my report for now. I'll try to share a bit more often now that I'm getting settled.

Best,

Miel
